Aweesome! Go Rams!
ha ha ha, getting him started early. Okay, so for a photo critique: good job filling up the frame and getting a candid shot. Try to squat down and get on his level for more interaction with the camera if possible. You can also zoom in so he doesn't notice you're there. Feedback is this is a great example of a "flash" photo with the harsh shadows behind him and the washed out color in the foreground. Not much you can do about that when you rely on the pop up flash, so this is a good time to get him near a window or open door and shoot in natural light (no flash). 2 tricks are getting enough light to not need the flash, and then getting the light to fall in a nice directional way on one side of his face. Since this snapshot is more about him in the shirt than any activity, it's perfect for a semi-posed shot like I described. Nicely done here!
oh, and I forgot to mention: on full length shots do NOT clip off any body parts, feet, etc. For partial length (3/4 shots), don't chop fingers or toes if part of them are in the frame. He has enough space above his head that you can clip that off a bit, oddly enough, but not the extremities (like a bent elbow, etc). Crop BETWEEN joints, like thigh or neck or bicep rather than at the knee or elbow, etc.
