Callings

So..... many of you have asked the question "what are your callings in your new ward?" The picture says it all!! We are overjoyed (notice the enthusiasm on our faces) to be in cub scouting! Russ is the Cub Master and Webelos leader. I am the Committee chair and the Webelos assistant....(you can imagine how fun this is for me with Russell's work schedule and chasing the little guy around while trying to manage overly energetic cubs....) It has now been nearly six months and we are just barely figuring things out. In all seriousness, we really DO like our callings and the boys are great kids....(I do however think the badge costs, uniform costs, and pretty much every other expense of the good old BSA is a racket.....I think the above pictured shirts are the most expensive shirts we own....)

Frightfully Good times!

We LOVE October!! The weather cools down and it marks the start of the cold weather festivities and holidays!!!

TRUNK or TREAT!

He enjoyed just walking around and checking out the other kids and the decorated cars.....Thank goodness he was not into trick or treating!!!

He sat on this scary guys lap......it was so funny, he just looked at him with this look of "what is wrong with you!"

dIRT bIKE rIDES!

oF all the recent spooky activities, THIS was the most FRIGHTFUL for me!! Russ is selling his bike so he wanted to take Ry for a quick spin around the neighborhood....Rylan LOVED it! It is in his blood! I was scared to death!

Halloween Party!

Our friends hosted a toddlers Halloween party with yummy kid friendly foods, dress-ups, crafts and lots of toys!! So much fun!!

Fall Luncheon & Playgroup!!

He LOVES to wear glasses as of late!! Luckily he found some play glasses at his friends house!! I think these are better for him than my sTrOnG prescription glasses that he usually finds and wears!!!

Fair weatherd fans!

We went to the BYU vs TCU game in Fort Worth....For those of you who saw the game it was UNBELIEVABLE.....unbelievable that the BYU quarterback can get sacked six times and unbelievable that the cougars went an entire half without getting on the board!! Way to go cougars! Despite the slaughter, we had a great time!! Rylan enjoyed cheering and clapping for TCU. We went with about 120 people from our stake so it was great company!!

Maybe we will switch over to rooting for the longhorns!!

Homework

A friend of mine is so patiently teaching me how to use my digital camera and she has asked me to do my homework which is PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE and then post them so she can give me advice and tips.....so feel free to skip over this post as it is a lot of pictures!! This one was focusing on lighting and trying to get catch light in the eyes---it was tricky because Rylan wont hold still at all.....so I hardly got any good "sparkly eye" shots because he was not cooperating!!! "A" for effort right? I need to find a subject who is more cooperative!! I put Rylan on my bed because he can't get down and run off....needless to say he was protesting!! While I did not capture the best light....I did capture some of the spirit and energy that this little guy has!!

1. I have been hit by a car. (I was walking in the High School parking lot with some friends in broad day light. someone backed out and hit me.....no injuries were sustained.)

2. I wanted to be an optometrist at one time. (I even took anatomy/physiology, medical terminology, medical and scientific writing, etc at the Y in preparation)

3. I love to watch cooking shows, but when it comes down to dirtying my kitchen, I'd rather not cook.......maybe I would enjoy cooking more if all the ingredients came washed and measured in cute glass bowls.

4. I watched The Sound of Music all the way through for the first time as a 25 year old.

5. I like to read Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson's writings.

6. D.T. Fleming is my favorite beach.

7. I used to {HAVE} to eat my Lucky Charms in a very particular order- all the grain pieces, then the red marshmallows and so on in rainbow spectrum order. It made me late to early morning seminary on occasion. (yes this went down while I was old enough to attend seminary)..Not sure that is tasted better that way but it looked better going down. Some suspect I have slight O.C.D. (I can now eat Lucky Charms normally, although my shirts are color-coded.)
