What's in your wallet?

The cost of blogging. I was working on blog posts and it got quiet......I thought I had a few years before this began....

Side-Kickin' and Step-Stoolin'

My little side-kick caught me using our step-stool to cook dinner and climbed right up next to me. *Special note: I promise this is not a regualar occurance! I usually do not use a step-stool to cook dinner. I had used it to reach something in a high cupboard and realized that my new found height added a better angle to keep a close eye on my simmering pots!!

The climate is growing on us!

On Saturday I wanted to go to Home Depot for a FEW flowers for our front floor bed. I asked Russell to come along......3 hours, 2 magnolia trees, 3 Crape myrtle trees, and several other plants later we emerged from the garden center.....Russ got a little excited and carried away with our new planting possibilities!
Yes, he will have lots of fun digging the holes for all this stuff!!!

The Salt Lick

Our friends the Rowleys are moving to San Antonio (only 45 min from us) and came for a house hunting visit. We were able to meet up in Austin and go to the world famous Salt Lick BBQ. The Salt Lick boasts that this is a regular hot spot for celebrities and their families including Bobby Flay, Sandra Bullock and Matthew McConaughey.

Russell's brother was also here last weekend.... we went downtown and ate at a local Mexican restaurant that had an awesome live band. Rylan was mesmerized. Afterwards we went down to the Congress Avenue bridge to see the Largest Urban bat colony in North America. It was crazy! At sun down a million bats fly out and across the Colorado River.

The Austin area also has a ton of "swimmin' holes"so Russell and his brother went swimming and snorkeled. Although they did not take a camera, here is a picture I found on the web of a local swimming hole. (I promise that is not me sporting that bright blue bikini!)

More Colorado fun

My mom and Rylan spent a lot of time outdoors during our visit.....they both LOVE the great outdoors!! Grandma let him play in her fountains, flowerbeds, and even jumped on the trampoline with him!!!

Run For the Roses

We love the Kentucky Derby!! With my mom being a good ole Southern girl she made sure we watched and cheered! We were glad that we were in Colorado with my mom for the big day!

Rylan got such a kick out of it....and thank goodness for Tivo-- we were able to rewind and re-watch the race over and over to his delight!!!

Next year you better believe that we will be making big ole hats since Rylan will be old enough to get excited about it!! In college we had a Kentucky Derby party where we each wore big hats and picked a horse to cheer for!! It was so much fun and besides, it is a great excuse to wear a cool hat!!!

Prom Date

While in Colorado Rylan and I got to see my sister get all gussied up for her Senior Prom.
