New Beginnings
I work with the Young Women program for our church for girls ages 12-17 and every year we do a program called New Beginnings where we welcome the girls that will be joining that year and tell them a little bit about what the program is about. The theme was "how sweet it is" to be in YW. It was great to meet the new girls and see the parents support their daughters.
I have worked in YW's specifically with the 16-17 year old girls for three years now....it is such a fun age but bitter sweet watching them graduate a grow up!!
For those of you who read this and are also leaders in Young women programs I thought I would share this idea in case you have to plan anything in the future.... this is a pic of the centerpiece I made out of paper plates....this could also work for a baby shower for a girl and have the theme be "sugar and spice and everything nice"

And of course....my little helper!
Police on the scene....
We woke up to loud knocking and the door bell ringing over and over...My first thought was "what an obnoxious FedEx dude!"
I sent Russ to the door and could hear a man asking him strange questions....."has this hole always been here? Does your wife know anything about this?"
I put on my robe, searched for my glasses and proceeded downstairs to see 4 cop cars and the highway patrol barricading off the street right in front of our house and an officer standing on our front porch.... the officer then began to ask me about this hole in the front of our house...I let him know that it had been there and was probably just a nail hole where the previous owner had hung a wreath and then we had a few questions for him!!
Apparently- (the nut-shell version) is that it was believed that shots were fired in the direction of our house around 7:50 AM...some punk stole a running trucks from a near by gas station and the get-away-car choose our quiet little neighborhood to wait to hang out in case things went sour....well whenever you steal a running a car with the owner standing right there you should expect to get caught- the owner watching as some punk drove off with his truck jumped in his buddies truck who was filling up with gas near by and they pursued the thief...the chase, complete with the police ended up in our neighborhood naturally as the theif was hoping to bail out with the get-away-car ----the get away car shot out the windshield of the the guys pursuing them....so the police where trying to gather the bullets and piece together what had happened...... needless to say the theives got caught and noone was harmed....
