Drapes

A few posts back I mentioned my sewing project- which were the drapes for the Master bedroom.....Although they were completed awhile ago, I thought I would post a picture of them finally......The photo did not turn out very well so the colors look off...... but you get the idea....

This whole project got started when we got the quote back for simple faux wood blinds....the arches had made the cost outrageous.....so we decided to look for a more cost effective alternative......so, 13 yards of fabric and 13 yards of black-out liner later.....this is what we ended up with...

Christmas Party

Our church had a little Christmas party..... I asked Rylan to go get shoes so we could go bye-bye....this is what he came out with!!

White Christmas

Well its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!! It snowed!! Russ was out of town and I got up at 1:00 in the morning to check for third time that all the doors were locked and I noticed that our grass looked weird through the dark....I flipped on the patio lights and to my surprise- SNOW!!! It stuck around until the afternoon. This is very rare and completely unexpected out here so it was very exciting! I know this does not look like much to most of you but for TX this is big time!!

Christmas Treats!

For Family Night we had another family over and made chocolate covered pretzels.....

Photo book

My cousin told me about this deal through Oprah where they were giving away hardback 20 page full color photo books from Snapfish---.....we are only fans of Oprah when it is convenient. Thanks Oprah and Snapfish!!! It is awesome!!! Definitely will need to make another one! Here are a few pics of mine!

M.I.A.

So it has been a couple weeks since our last post.....here is what we have been up to.

Cleaning- Rylan supplies a never ending amount of messes- he found a baby food pack in the pantry---ate right through the lid. I love this picture- un-snapped onesie, socks, diapers, & shoes- just the essentials- who need pants?

Sewing- This was a major project- 2- 10 1/2 foot curtain panels, and 2- 9 foot panels with blackout lining. They are for our master bedroom..... I bought the fabric on Friday and had them finished by mid day Saturday......I will post more details once they are hung.

Recovering-
I recovered the chairs....Hancock fabric had their 50% off sale- got to love that!! Children's Museum-

The fish in this aquarium kept coming right up to the glass it scared Rylan every time! He would jump back and flinch.....so funny!
This was the "Austin City Limits" stage- they had pretend instruments, costumes, lights and songs that the kids could choose from They had TV's that were broadcasting what was going on on the stage so the kids got a kick out of being on "TV"......Rylan was loving the music and lights!!!
Chasing- We chase him around all day!! When he sticks his tongue out like that Russell says it is mischievous face.......

Reading- Apparently he likes Better Homes and Gardens.....that a boy!!

Signs of fall

The boy and I took a nature walk this morning. These are some of the signs of fall we found. He is at the age where he ONLY wants to be outside. He brings me his shoes and fusses until we go outside. We have been getting a lot of fresh air.

Capital

We took Russell's folks to the capital building. His mother has made a goal to try to visit as many capitals as possible.

While there, Eva Longoria was shooting a public service announcement......We left lbefore they started filming because Rylan would not be "quiet on the set". He loved hearing his echo!!! Before they had roped off the area where they were filming Rylan started messing with the camera....oopps!

Poison Control

Poison Control knows me by first name... Rylan, despite my attempts to keep him in a bubble, has gotten a hold of some non-consumables. Case in point. Ink Jet Cartridge.... Turns out, they are not toxic and the damage is mostly cosmetic. On the up side, the blue lips do compliment his eyes.

Hindu Temple

We toured a Hindu temple. It was a few days after Dewali (the festival of lights). They had huge peacocks (India's national bird) wandering the property and a traditional rice and grain mosaic on the ground.

Halloween Night

Halloween night was a lot of fun!! A lot of our neighbors had decked their houses out with some cool, not to mention spooky decor!! Rylan loved all the lights, goblins, ghosts, and pumpkins!! The best was Zultan- the creepy talking head from the movie BIG. Rylan got such a kick out of it and a great fortune!!! While he did not trick or treat, he enjoyed seeing the other children and being outside!! The weather was perfect which was weird.....CO Halloweens were freezing and AZ Halloweens were hot!
